Weeks of delays ahead on Stonehouse Road

  • The A71 through Stonehouse will be closed for three weeks from Sunday 11th July

Strathaven drivers travelling through Stonehouse will face three weeks of diversions when the main road through the town is partially closed for resurfacing.

The A71 through Stonehouse will be closed eastbound between Udston Mill Road and Newfield Road from 5am on Sunday 11th July to 11pm on Sunday 1st August 1.

Traffic heading north to Hamilton will be diverted on to the A723 Townhead Street, Strathaven, and WILL then turn right on to Commercial Road toward Hamilton, then left on to Hamilton Road.

Traffic heading on the A71 eastbound/M74 southbound/Stonehouse and local areas will turn right at Strathaven on to the B7086 Lesmahagow Road.

They will then follow the road to Blackwood and turn left on the B7078 Carlisle Road toward Larkhall.

Yet another shambles in "ROAD MANAGEMENT" from SLC!! Cars & HGV's going roads they shouldn't. I met 3 vehicles going the WRONG WAY on the SINGLE ONE WAY OUT of STONEHOUSE on Monday!!Signage not clearly stating where you or CAN'T go!!! Then when you do get out of Stonehouse,there's more roadworks at Newmilns OR Larkhall(even M74 N slip road closed there on Sunday!!??) What idot set all this up?? And there's more to come????
