A daredevil team arrived in Strathaven this week, as singer Sam Callahan visited Drumclog's motocross track - jumping over brave volunteers on a motorbike to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.…
Strathaven was brightened up at Gala Day this year with new bunting around the town, and s1strathaven has been supporting the drive to pay for the new flags – and the appeal continues!
s1strathaven did its bit on Gala Day this year, running a stall to help raise money towards the Gala bunting – it’s the second year we’ve run the stall, with volunteers coming along to have wet sponges thrown at them, and get soaked in a great local cause – and this year’s efforts raised £105 for the Gala fund.
Many thanks to all who came along on the day and took part – Lee Maclean, Lindsey Seatter, Euan Seatter, Karen Russell, Scott Russell, Helen Mungall, Heather MacKenzie and Wendy Tilston and special thanks to Yvonne Jamieson of Strathaven Rugby Club ladies section, who helped keep the stall running throughout the afternoon. Thanks also to everyone who came along and supported the stall – and apologies to anyone missing from that list!
Although the new bunting was in place for this year’s Gala, the fundraising goes on. Part of the cost of the new flags having been paid from general Gala funds, meaning organisers need to keep fundraising to make sure next year’s Gala is as big a success as this year’s undoubtedly was.
Next year’s Strathaven Gala week will be the 40th consecutive year that the town has enjoyed a great festival, which remains amongst the biggest and best Gala weeks anywhere in Scotland – and the Gala needs your support throughout the year – so if you can help, get in touch!
