Sport Relief celebrity charity cycle heading for Strathaven
2 Mar 2010A team of seven celebrities have on a marathon cycle ride of over 1,000 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End in aid of Sport Relief - and will be passing through Strathaven on the way!
Although a detailed route map was not released by the charity ahead of the event for safety reasons, comedian Miranda Hart crossed the Erskine Bridge just after 1pm on Tuesday, before handing over to presenter Fearne Cotton, who headed off towards Clarkston, and on the way towards Strathaven.
It looks likely that the team will pass through the town some time after 3pm on Tuesday.
UPDATE - 3.35pm: The Sport Relief team arrived in Strathaven just before 3.30pm on Tuesday afternoon - Patrick Kielty took over from Fearne Cotton in the car park at Strathaven Golf Club, before heading down Glasgow Road, along Barn Street and Green Street, into the Common Green and up Wellbrae on to Kirk Street, before heading out towards Stonehouse.
UPDATE: 3.40pm - Very strange. The Sport Relief team must have really enjoyed their visit to Strathaven, as they got less than a mile down the road towards Stonehouse before turning round, coming back into Strathaven, left along Todshill Street, and out along Lesmahagow Road towards Kirkmuirhill. You can follow the team's progress live here.
