Round Table plans classic rally addition to the Strathaven calendar

  • Strathaven Round Table are planning a classic car rally in May
Breaking news has come in this week from the guys at Strathaven Round Table. Head of Round Table PR and local Conservative Councillor Graeme Campbell revealed that Strathaven Round Table is in the advanced stages of planning a new event to add to the Strathaven Calendar.

Graeme said, "For some time now, the guys have wanted to do something different and add to the success created over the years with the annual Bonfire & Fireworks display in November, the raft race that kicks off gala week in June and seniors winter lunch, held each January in the Strathaven Hotel. With the help of new members this year and an enthusiasm for classic cars and motorbikes, this up and coming event (planned for Sunday 23rd May) will bring a whole new addition to the Strathaven calendar."

New Tabler 'Scott Mitchell' is the driving force behind this new event, with the support of a subcommittee within the Strathaven Round Table. Scott said, "The Strathaven Round Table Classic vehicle Rally is building momentum, with interest and commitment already given from classic car clubs such as, BMW, Jaguar, Ford, TR7, Triumph Stag, Mini and both the Scottish vintage vehicle & motorcycle club to name but a few."

While this event is stil in planning stages, the guys at Strathaven Round Table are currently working with local businesses and South Lanarkshire Council to find suitable locations in the town to host this event. Be sure to keep Sunday 23rd May 2010 in your diary because this event is shaping up to bring something special to Strathaven.
