Rotary Club supports Pakistan flood aid appeal
19 AugustThe Rotary Club of Strathaven has responded to the appeal to help victims of the Pakistan floods, sending £750 to pay for 3 Aqua30 boxes which will provide filters and water purification tablets sufficient to provide 33,000 litres of purified water.
The Club intens to raise further funds to assist with the humanitarian effort over the longer term and public donations can be made to Paula Welch in 'The Gentle Touch', Townhead Street, Strathaven.
Pakistan was hit with the worst floods the country has experienced in more than 80 years. The advice from aid agencies is that there is an immediate need for clean water.
The Club are participating in a Car Boot Sale which is being held at Strathaven Rugby Club on 29th August from 10am to 3pm. The aim for the day is to raise funds for another water well in India. The Club will provide a warm welcome and encourage everyone to come along and support them in this extremely worthwhile effort.
