Roadworks disruption for drivers in Strathaven's Common Green

  • Work has started at the lights at the Common Green

Drivers in Strathaven have been facing delays and temporary lights at the Common Green ahead of the major roadworks planned for this weekend - with more to come.

According to the Scottish Road Works website, these are 'Low Impact' road works, scheduled to take place from Tuesday 24th to Monday 30th April.

And there are more roadworks and closures ahead, with the news that the B743 Muirkirk Road is to be closed from Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th May between the A71 and the B745 for resurfacing work.

Alternative routes will be in place during that period, via the A71, B7086, B7078 and the A70. Thanks to Cllr Lynn Filshie for the information on the works.

Re the roadworks on Saturday and Sunday on Townhead Street, I have been informed by SPT & SLC that the 254 bus will be terminating in Station Road, I have been informed by SLC that the other buses will not be affected but I have not confirmed this with SPT

I have been informed  there are other works going on also, one day only on Newton Road - cabling by BT, this should be complete before the Townhead Street closure commences
