Planning bosses give go-ahead for new Strathaven tennis courts
27 JanuaryPlans to build new courts for Strathaven tennis players in the John Hastie Park have been given the go-ahead this week, as council bosses gave the thumbs up to the development, despite objections from some Holm Street residents.
Approval was given at Tuesday's planning committee meeting, for work to upgrade the courts to new hard surfaces, including floodlights.
Some residents in Holm Street had raised concerns about the new floodlights, and the effect they would have on bedrooms facing the courts. One of the conditions attached to the plan was that the courts are to be used for tennis only.
