The new Sainburys is going to be really handy, as is the new petrol station as I refused to use the other one. From now on though I will be trying to avoid Kirk Street, already a nightmare due to the traffic volume and lorries, now we've got a sea of traffic lights, whats the need? Bring on a bypass.

Being a recent "incomer" (oh, I do love that tag), its a great addition to a cracking town. I think some people dont like it as they see it as a further encroachment but I think many (judging by the full carpark) will welcome it.

I, like many others did their weekly shop out of town anyway. This will now keep me in town, and I will probably make more use of the other local shops. It's swings and roundabouts though, and I hope the local shops don't suffer too badly - some may have to step up their game a bit though, which may not be a bad thing in some instances!

I agree about petrol station, I dont need to drive to stonehouse or hamilton to fill up. Yes the roads will be busy but thats life! the co-op is still handy enough for day to day stuff but to be honest sainsburys has a lot more variety of products.

Great to havea petrol station in the town that is reasonably priced and I get nectar points too.

Slightly disappointed at the selection of foods available due to the amount of non-foods taking up space which I have little or no interest in. Couldn't say I would be able to do a big shop there as not enough of a range to fulfill my shopping list but will be handy for the day to day things that are too over-priced at other supermarkets in the town.

The queues can't be any worse than those at the co=op, hopefully they will up their game now though.

It's great for the town and has brought a buzz to the place.

With its opening and LS Smellie's new development at the Strathaven Rural Centre these companies have brought many millions of pounds of investment to the area, creating or protecting around 200 jobs in a town that badly needed it.

Strathaven need both of them more than they needed Strathaven. Good for them.
