More helpers needed to make Strathaven look blooming great
2 August, 2012Could you help the Strathaven in Bloom team make the town look great, by working with the group which prepares the town’s entry for the Beautiful Scotland event, as well as planting flowers and improving the look of the area.
Strathaven in Bloom volunteer Grace Robertson said: “I started in the Spring this year (2012) when I responded to an appeal to help pot up plug plants. We have just had our work judged by Beautiful Scotland, so fingers crossed for a great result. Our small band has worked very hard, under the leadership of Helen Young, to make the town look fabulous! We will find out in September how we did.
“Strathaven in Bloom has so few voulnteers and one comment by the judges was that we need to raise our profile and another was we need to attract more volunteers.”
Can you help? You don't need any horticultural knowledge or previous experience - just need people to 'do stuff'. Strathaven in Bloom is a small, friendly group and all volunteers will be made very welcome.
You don't need to commit to a set day or amount of time. Can you give an hour a week, a few hours once a month or a morning twice a year? Every little helps! Please help if you can - Strathaven needs you! Contact Helen Young - 01357 521165. Thank you!
