Huge crowds enjoy the big parade for Strathaven Gala 2012

  • The Rankin File's 'Priscilla' took most humourous float
  • Big crowds lined the streets for the parade
  • The Smurfs take a break from the parade

Strathaven Gala Day 2012 has been hailed as one of the best ever, after a spectacular, colourful parade through the town before Kirsten Waddell was crowned 2012 Gala Queen.

Huge crowds turned out to watch the procession, which was the biggest for many years, with hundreds of participants, as Smurfs, Chinese dragons, Olympic athletes - and many more, took to the streets.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the parade, and all the events of Gala Day (and in fact throughout Gala Week).
