Getting ready to launch into Strathaven Gala week with raft race
25 April, 2012The build up to Strathaven Gala week is gathering pace, with plans for costumes and floats for the parade, and all the other events beginning to take shape – including for the traditional curtain-raiser, the Round Table’s raft race and barbecue.
Due to the holiday weekend, this year’s raft race will be on Sunday 3rd June (rather than on Saturdays as in the last few years) - you can see more details on how to enter this year’s race here.
As in the last few years, s1strathaven will be taking part in the Round Table event, and we were down at the river trying out one of the rafts for this year’s race at the weekend, with the help of manager Alana Robinson, deputy manager Kate McCormick, and Marcus White from the Drumclog Inn.
Alana, Kate and Marcus enjoyed testing the raft, but are hoping that the weather, and water will have warmed up in time for the race in a few weeks.
And there’s another exciting announcement about the raft race coming soon – watch this space for more details.
The team from the Drumclog Inn will also be amongst those taking part in the Gala raft race this year – here’s Kate and Alana with their message…
