FESTIVAL 2010

August 27th to 29th  is the date set for this year's festival.

At the A.G.M.,held on Wednesday 3rd March the retirement of the Chairman, Organising Secretary and Treasurer were confirmed. They had been in post since 1999 when the first festival was held. Thanks were recorded for their hard work and enthusiasm. No doubt they will retain their interest and be available for help and advice.

The new Chairman is Gordon Mcallan, well known for his commentaries at each festival.

The new Organising secretary is Graham Findlay and the Treasurer Colin Dempster.

A full programme of entertainment is being built and balloonists have been invited. The Strathaven based Taiko Dojo Drummers and the Koda Band from Biggar have agreed to make return visits.       Other local groups will also be performing, including The Bellshill Concert Band, The Bunkhouse Line Dancers, Margaret Laing's fabulous Irish dancers, and a new Youth Choir.

In the past, Laurie Jackson has co-ordinated much of the fund raising, in particular the sponsorship by the local businesses. This has raised a large part of the necessary funds.                                        This year, members of the public will be invited to become individual sponsors. More details will follow shortly.
