Remedial & Sport Massage from Alpha Holistics.

Remedial Massage is used to address soft tissue problems, skeletal misalignment and various combinations of these, including:

stiffness, muscle strain, ligament sprain, tendon problems (e.g. tennis/golfer's elbow), general aches and pains, tension headaches, joint problems (e.g. arthritis), frozen shoulder, pelvic and spinal misalignment (kyphosis, lordosis, scoliosis) and much more.

Visit our website for more information about the procedures we use and how remedail massage can help you.

Sport Massage uses the same methods as Remedial Massage. However, there are significant differences between the two:

  1. The psychological advantage that the client's dedication to their sport provides. Not only is their improvement and recovery time likely to be shorter but the treatments themselves often progress quicker,
  2. Their aims may differ e.g. a sportsperson may be interested in improving technique and performance, where a remedial client is interested in reducing pain and improving range of motion,
  3. Normally we would address muscular imbalance in a remedial client, however an imbalance may be the result of a sporting requirement e.g. a hurdler with a better developed left piriformis (used to lift the trailing leg and foot over the hurdle),
  4. An athlete may not wish or intend to interrupt their training schedule. Treatment must then be adapted to take this into account, and point 1. above will play an important part in the treatment process.
  5. and others.

Significant benefits Sport Massage offers the sportsperson:

  • Improved performance,
  • lengthier 'career' in your chosen sport,
  • quicker recovery time from injury,
  • reduced likely hood of recurring injury,
  • less susceptible to post career injury e.g. arthritis,
  • advice on injury treatment, rehabilitation and prevention (especially important when you are increasing or changing your training programme significantly).
